Most men say that they don’t get condoms in sizes they would like them to be. They are too long, too short, too loose or just uncomfortable. Enter: Custom-made condoms! You heard that right – a company has launched customizable condoms for a snug fit. They have been launched in the United States and the sizes are decided after permutations and combinations of 10 lengths and 9 widths.

HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?

The company has a tool kit which can be used by men to measure their erect penises which will generate a unique code for them. Then they will get that size plus a size smaller and a size larger, so that they can know what suits them best.

ARE THESE SIZES REALLY NEEDED?

A lot of experts argued that sure so many sizes sound fancy and can help the company sell more condoms but do couples really bother about it so much when they are having sex? Also, their higher price can be an aspect a lot of people may not like. Condoms should be easily available and cheap, many believe.

DOES SUCH VARIETY HAVE A MEDICAL ADVANTAGE?

Experts said that from a safety angle, poor fits make sex a bad experience. They could lead to loss of sensation, erection or an inability to climax. In fact, if the condom is loose, it can get off prematurely and if it is tight, it can break. So, a customizable condom will improve the protection against sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies.

50% MEN DON’T LIKE THE WAY CONDOM FITS:

A 2010 study published in the journal Sexually Transmitted Infections claimed that half of the surveyed men didn’t like the way condom fits and used bad fitting ones in the past three months. In fact, these men were 2.5 times likelier to report slippage or breakage of condom and were 5 times likelier to have penile irritation. They could even be twice less likely to enjoy sex and to orgasm.

THE SIZES:

The company has made the condoms available in combinations of various lengths and widths. The length range was 4.9 to 9.4 inches whereas the width range was 3.5 to 5 inches.

ARE SO MANY SIZES GOOD OR BAD?

Well, as the concept is new and is yet to come to India, it is hard to say how it will bode with couples. However, it seems an interesting invention and if it promotes the usage of condoms in any way, then why not?
