Man commits suicide owing to separation from son

Heartbroken due to separation from his one-year-old son, a 27-year-old courier firm employee committed suicide at his rental house in Dayananda Nagar, near Sriramapura, on Thursday evening.

Bharath, a resident of Dayananda Nagar, worked as a delivery boy with a courier firm and was married to Manjeshwari after a two-year courtship. The couple had manage to convince their parents about their relationship and soon got married. The couple recently separated due to some differences.

After Manjeshwari complained to Sriramapura and Rajajinagar police about harassment by Bharath, the cops managed to convince the couple to live together.
However, Manjeshwari left her marital home a month ago and took their son with her. Bharath was upset over the development as he was attached to his son. He requested his wife to send their son with him for three days. Manjeshwari obliged, but Bharath declined to send his son back to her after three days. So, she again approached police, seeking their help to get back the child. Bharath returned the kid to his wife on Thursday after police intervened.

Reaching home, he consumed alcohol and hanged himself from the ceiling. He was found dead around 7pm.

Sriramapura police registered a case of abetment to commit suicide under the provision of IPC section 306 based on the complaint filed by his father. The complainant alleged that his son committed suicide due to harassment by Manjeshwari and her parents.
“We have registered case against Manjeshwari and her parents based on the complaint. We are probing into the incident and will take legal action against the accused if their role is confirmed,” a police officer said.
