BJP’s Amit Malviya and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor today sparred on Twitter after the latter “liked” a tweet by Pakistan foreign minister Khawaja M Asif where he condemned the statement made by Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat.
Terming it a “shameful” act, Malviya, who is BJP’s national information and technology in-charge, posted a screen grab of a tweet liked by the Congress leader. The tweet, liked by Tharoor, was from the foreign minister of Pakistan where he had condemned the statement by Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat.
Tharoor refuted Malviya’s allegation and said that he uses Twitter’s like feature as a bookmark to revisit them (the liked tweet) at a later time.
To drive his point home, Tharoor even retweeted a Congress’s activist tweet, where the activist had cited a reply made by Tharoor in 2013 offering his clarification on a similar issue.
On Sunday, Tharoor ‘dealt’ with Asif’s tweet and called it “Preposterous and unbecoming of a Foreign Minister.”
The tweet in question was a reply from Asif to Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat’s warning to Pakistan.
