Dinesh Karthik has been named as a substitute for the injured Wriddhiman Saha for the third and final Test between India and South Africa.Saha had suffered an upper left hamstring tendon injury during training, after the first Test. The mail further added that the BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor his progress.
After Saha’s injury, Parthiv Patel was the obvious choice to fill the vacant spot for the second Test. Despite the fact that Saha was ordinary with the bat in the first Test, he was brilliant with the gloves. Saha broke former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s record to set a new milestone of most number of catches taken by an Indian keeper, during the first Test.
Saha managed to take as many as ten matches in the two innings to take the top spot in the list, overtaking Dhoni’s record which he set during the Melbourne Test against Australia in 2014. Saha picked five catches in each of the two innings to take the top spot.Saha became only the fifth wicket-keeper ever to scalp ten catches in a match. Saha joined the likes of Robert Taylor and Adam Gilchrist to take 10 catches, while he is now only behind Jack Russell and AB De Villiers in this illustrious list
