Actor Mohanlal honoured with Doctorate from Calicut University
The University of Calicut has conferred honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) degrees on Malayalam film actor Mohanlal at a special convocation held today (January 29) at the campus. Kerala State governor P Sathasivam and other delegates were present at the convocation.
Mohanlal shared the photo in his Facebook page and has written that he is pleased, honoured and humbled to accept D.Litt. from Calicut University. The actor was honoured with the doctorate in recognition of his services and achievements in the field of cinema.

In 2010, Mohanlal had received a honorary doctorate from the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, for his contributions to Sanskrit theatre and the world of movies. In a monumental career spanning near forty years, the actor has received numerous other accolades and honours. He has received five National Film Awards and many other awards at the state level.
In 2001, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour in the country for his contribution to the arts. He is also the first actor in the country to be awarded the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army of India.
On the acting front, Mohanlal is currently shooting for Ajoy Varma’s upcoming movie titled ‘Neerali’. After its completion, he will be joining the third and final schedule of Odiyan by the end of February.
