Eight kilometers south of Kalpetta, near to the town of Meppady, lays the highest peak in Wayanad, the Chembra Peak (2,100 m). Chembra peak adjoins Nilgiri hills in Tamil Nadu and Vallarimala in Kozhikode. From the town of Meppady you can reach the peak through walking.
The route to the peak itself has a brilliant view along with a heart-shaped lake, waterfalls and lush greenery the whole way. It is a prime spot for trekking but prior permission needs to be taken before going on these treks. Guided tours are available and can help in enhancing the entire experience.

Chembra peak starts amidst tea plantations and gradually takes you in the damp forest and surreal surroundings. The initial leg of the trek is easy as you trot on dry twigs, with bountiful views of tea plantations and valley on your right. After a while, you will find yourself amidst stalwart trees and filtered sunlight. The Chembra peak trek starts becoming a bit steep gradually.
