Election commission on Wednesday has said that the much awaited Karnataka Assembly polls will be held in April or early May.
The Central Election Commission is set to meet the top officials in Karnataka and will hold a meeting in the first week on March or April. A final date will be announced only after that.
The term of the 224-member Karnataka assembly ends on May 28 this year.

It was reported earlier that the Election commission is pondering to announce the schedule for Election in the state second week of April.
Karnataka is the last Big state in India where Congress is in power whereas BJP has hold of 21 states in the country. Both the parties are leaving no stone unturned to win the election.
The BJP has already declared former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa as its chief ministerial candidate and the ruling Congress is going to polls under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The Janata Dal (Secular), which is the third force in the state, has announced its pre-poll tie-up with the Bahujan Samaj Party.
