This wasn’t just another contract win, but Dalmiya group has achieved unparalleled success by winning a contract to secure a historical monument – none other than the red fort built by Shahjahan. Dalmiya Bharat Group did so by beating Indigo Airline and GMR group to secure the maintenance contract for 25 crores for five years.
The monuments are available for adoption as a part of a government scheme ‘Adopt a Heritage’ which started last year. The memorandum of understanding has already been signed between Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture and Archaeological Survey of India a couple of weeks ago but it was made public only a few days ago.
On a budget of five crores per year, the Dalmiyas will join other private sector companies which will maintain the monument for five years. Union Minister for tourism KL Alphons had requested the stakeholders to protect and preserve the heritage of India. The responsibility of maintenance and operations of the monument will be entrusted with the Dalmiyas for the next five years.

They will have to maintain activities related to the development of tourist facilities from basic clean drinking water to security. Dalmiyas are already planning to install surveillance systems like pan tilt zoom CCTV cameras.
