Cannibalism? Not really. Rebecca Zeni, a former model was eaten alive by mites. Her autopsy report stated the cause of death was “septicemia due to crusted scabies”. Septicemia is nothing but a life-threatening complication of infection and scabies is an infestation by human itch mite. This microscopic scabies mite makes it into the upper layer of the skin and takes it as its own home and lay eggs there.
Zeni, who in younger age had worked in the naval yard and involved in modelling projects, was suffering from dementia. She was admitted to the nursing home by her daughter 8 years ago. The report says that the state health officials were informed of the scabies outbreak at the facility, but a proper investigation was not held in time.

Zeni’s family is now suing Pruitt Health, which runs this nursing home. There are also unconfirmed reports that say that the staffs were told not to touch Zeni’s hand. In the pictures taken at Zeni’s final moments, her skin looked blackish and blistering.
R Kris Sperry, a forensic pathologist who went over Zeni’s autopsy report said that it was one of the most horrendous things he had ever seen in his career as a forensic pathologist.
