Kashmir Stone pelting : Boy seriously injured after Security force fires rubber bullets
A 9-year old boy was seriously injured after military opened fire upon a group of protesters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore town, residents and sources said .
Official sources said that Central Reserve Police Force troops used tear smoke shells, fired rubber bullets after a group of youth pelted stones at their vehicle near Arampur at around 7:15 pm on Saturday. In the incident, 9-year old Rizwan Ahmad Kaboo sustained head injuries and was immediately taken to sub-district hospital.

A doctor who operated upon the minor said that the boy was hit by a “rubber bullet” in his head and as such was referred to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences in Sovur for specialized treatment. The Senior Superintendent of Police in Sopore, Javid Iqbal, said that a forces vehicle was attacked allegedly by the stone pelters and in the retaliatory action the minor was injured.
Iqbal said that police are ascertaining the facts. “We have registered a case and investigations have been taken up”.
