Supplier sells drugs pills during Ramadan prayer time

Are the police vigilant during the Ramadan, particularly during the prayer timings? Are the quick enough to catch a drug dealer?

Assuming that the security or the police wouldn’t be strong during the Iftar prayer, a man tried to sell of different types of drugs, disguising them as pills. The Abu Dhabi police had caught the Arab man and seized 3000 pills.

In a press statement released on Saturday, Colonel Taher Ghareeb Al Dhaheri, director of drug control directorate of the criminal security sector, said the 53-year-old dealer tried to sell the drugs during the call for Maghrib prayer as “he thought no one would be monitoring his illegal activities”.

In a tip-off received, the police acted and conducted an operation titled ‘under the microscope’ during which the police monitored the suspect’s movements and arrested him during a raid. The police seized the drug pills and the cash he had during the raid.

“The suspect was fully shocked when he was being arrested because he thought he was too smart to be discovered by the police. When confronted with the evidence against him, he confessed to the crimes and confirmed that the drugs seized from him belonged to him. His case was then transferred to the public prosecution for further investigations,” Col Al Dhaheri said.

Interestingly, during last Ramadan, the police had prevented a dealer’s bid to sell 73kg of cannabis during the call for Maghrib prayer.
