Health Minister of Kerala K K Shailaja has assured that the threat of Nipah Virus spread is over. She said that since no new cases have been reported, it can be safely assumed that we have successfully contained the situation.

Till June 12, Health Department had kept 2649 people in the observation list, currently only 1430 people are being actively observed. She said schools will start functioning from June 12 and that other public programs can also be given a green signal.
But Nipah virus spread will continue to be under the observation of Health department. The minister said she will cordinate waste disposal programs and preventive actions. She also warned people to stay alert.
All party meeting to discuss the issue will be held at the Panchayat and Assembly Constituency level. The two patients, infected with Nipah will be discharged soon, said the Minister.
