Kochi metro with a daily passenger count of about 40000 may not be as big as the Delhi metro., But then, it is gradually picking up and expanding it’s wings and early signs augurs well for its future.
On Sunday it completed it’s one year of operations and to celebrate the anniversary, Kochi Metro has introduced a number of benefits for the passengers. APM Mohammed Banish, MD of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd(KMRL) said that all the commuters can enjoy free rides on June 19, as part of the celebrations. Besides this, there will also be the issuance of Metro cards and tickets along with a lucky draw for commuters.

The celebrations were held at Edappally Metro Station . A number of programs were organised including a magic show from famous Magician Professor Gopinath Muthukad. Near Muttom depot area, about 500 saplings were planted by all employees as part of the celebrations. Each KMRL employee will have a pet tree from now.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that it is moving on the right track with an increase in number of passengers and income.
