Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Thursday said that the Taj Mahal is a Shiv Temple and extended his whole hearted support for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in destroying it. “Taj Mahal is a Shiv Temple, Yogi Ji and many other people told me this. I am the kind of Muslim who would walk with Yogi Ji and will also get 10-20 thousand other Muslims along to demolish it,” Khan told ANI.

“We will walk shoulder to shoulder with Yogi ji. The first hit on the Taj Mahal will be done by Yogi ji and the second will be by me. Taj Mahal should be demolished,” said Azam Khan
It was in October last year that Khan had stated that along with the Red Fort, Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Taj Mahal was a symbol of slavery. In March, the Hindu Mahasabha released a calendar wherein it had named Taj Mahal as ‘Tejo Mahalay Shiv Mandir’. It had referred to Qutub Minar as Vishnu Stambh and Kashi’s Gyanvyapi mosque as Vishwanath temple. The calendar was released by the Aligarh unit of Hindu Mahasabha.
Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Vinay Katiyar had said that there are many signs that show the UNESCO World Heritage Site was originally a Shiv Temple.
