The World Cup Fever is just going up even with some of the major teams and players already out of the tournament. Russia played a stunning game yesterday to keep all the hosts interested but then the country is leaving no stone unturned to make sure the interest is not dying. In an unusual move, it got the women dressed as brides to play a football match in the host city of Kazan. Watch the video here :

The friendly match was intended to show their love for the sport. The ladies in the bridal dress wore running shoes to go along with floor length white dress. The women split up into teams of 5 and played 15-minute halves on gravel in front of a small crowd.

“We had a nice appearance but it wasn’t very comfortable,” said Gulnaz Sharipova, a player on the winning team who had never played soccer before. “It’s not only a man’s game,” said Maryana Raznogorskaya, the team’s goalkeeper. “The most important thing is friendship and solidarity.”
The winning team was awarded a replica of the World Cup trophy, made out of flowers.
