The Wildlife SOS team with help of the Ministry of Environment & Forests and other agencies helped bring back an Indian sloth bear, Rangila on Friday after an attempt was made to smuggle him into Nepal seven months ago, when he and his companion, Sridevi were spotted at the Indo-Nepal Border in December 2017.
Rangila travelled about a 1000 kilometre across international borders.
Both the bears were seized by the Nepal authorities and taken to a temporary housing in Kathmandu zoo awaiting Indian authorities to take them back.

During their journey, however, Sridevi died and Rangila was shifted to Wildlife SOS at the Agra Bear Rescue Facility, UP with a team of rescuers and veterinarians since the sloth was brought back in a critical state.
Rangila will be kept quarantined as it needs to undergo extensive medical check
s and screening, he will be dewormed and will follow a strict and calibrated diet. Rangila will be monitored by a team of veterinary doctors and bear keepers to care for him and address his behaviour observation and positive reinforcement.
