A 35-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his elder brother after the former beat up their sister over a mobile SIM card, the police said on Sunday.
Gurjit Singh, a resident of Santuwala village falling under Baghapurana subdivision in the district Punjab , was attacked by his brother, Rajinder Singh, with a handpump handle on Saturday night.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Gurjit thrashed his sister, Paramjit Kaur, after she refused to give him the SIM card. When Rajinder intervened, a fight broke out between the brothers.
Gurjit was rushed to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot, after being referred by a local hospital. He succumbed to injuries in the wee hours of Sunday.
The police have registered a murder case against Rajinder Singh at Samalsar police station.
