Earthquake Measuring Magnitude of 3.8 Hits Several Areas

An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 struck Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh on Friday. According to a tweet by ANI, the earthquake took place at 1.42 pm. Reports inform that no loss of life or property has been reported.

The earthquake was reported to be a low-intensity quake in the state in three days. On Wednesday, an earthquake measuring 2.9 had struck the Kangra region with tremors being felt in the surrounding areas.

Reports inform that tremors have been felt increasingly in the state of Himachal with Chamba district being struck by a 3.3-measuring earthquake.

Himachal Pradesh has witnessed torrential rains this week. While Paonta Sahib town in Sirmaur district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 138 mm, it was 133 mm each in Dharamsala and Kangra, 120 mm in Palampur and 96.3 mm in Nahan, an IANSreport said.

Most of the places in the state experienced moderate to heavy rainfall, causing landslides in some areas and blocking roads, while all the major rivers and their tributaries were in spate, a Met official said.
