Congress to face tough competition

Not only brains, but the BJP party is looking for women how are beautiful as well, in hopes of giving the Congress a run for their money.

The political tussle on social media has taken an interesting turn with the BJP deciding to launch ‘Miss Social’ contest in a bid to add a glamour quotient to its virtual world warriors in Madhya Pradesh.

Named ‘Beauty with Brains’, the contest is aimed at blunting the rival Congress party’s high-pitched battle on social media. The saffron party has announced the state-wide competition for women between 17 and 30 years of age. The participants should be well-versed with the social media and have awareness about schemes of the state and central governments.

“The idea is to make social media useful for women who want to avail benefits of government schemes and are ready to educate others on issues related to women. Participants must have access to social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, besides, applications launched by the state and the central governments”, state BJP Mahila Morcha chief Lata Elkar a news agency.

She said that the contest is open for women who have an interest in using social media to educate the masses. “Interested candidates can apply by August 31”, said Elkar, adding that the Morcha will hold a contest on the basis of questionnaire carrying 50 marks and an equal 50 marks on their social media participation for the last past one year. The contest will be held on September 16 and results will be declared on September 26. Elkar said, “We are trying to make women aware of our schemes so that that they help us publicise our policies, promote our ideology among women who are ignorant about the welfare measures of the government.”

The contest will be held at district, division and state levels and the prizes include a mobile phone, tab, and a laptop. The Morcha members feel that awareness among women would help them fight the evils of the society and make them aware of their rights, Elkar added.
