A strong earthquake of 6.8 magnitude hits Latin American country Chile on early Wednesday morning. This was informed by the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) .
The quake struck at a depth of 145 km. The US Geological Survey placed the quake’s epicentre about 62 km southwest of San Pedro de Atacama.
There were no reports of casualties or damage.
