Olympic medalists PR Sreejesh and Neeraj Chopra among 12 persons to be awarded Khel Ratna

New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the names of the 12 sportspersons who will be awarded the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award for the year 2021. The list includes Tokyo Olympics medalists Neeraj Chopra and Malayalee hockey player PR Sreejesh. Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award is the highest sports award in the country.

Sreejesh has received the Arjuna award in 2015 and the Padma Shri in 2017. He is the third Keralite to win the prestigious award. Earlier KM Beena Mol and Anju Boby George had received the award.

The awards will be given as part of the National Sports Awards, which will be held on November 13. All the sportspersons will receive their awards from the President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
