Kerala Officer Takes His Own Life Amid Chit Fund Scam Probe Stress: Sources

A tragic incident unfolded near the Kuttiady Police Stadium in Kozhikode on Monday evening, where Civil Police Officer Mavulla Parambath Sudheesh (42), hailing from Pathiripatta near Kakkattil, was discovered hanging in a parking lot. This parking lot, situated just 50 meters from the police station, is closely associated with a private company’s godown.

Sudheesh had been absent from the police station since 11.30 am, triggering a search operation. Regrettably, his untimely demise is suspected to be a case of suicide.

Sources have revealed that Sudheesh had been grappling with severe stress related to an ongoing chit fund scam investigation. With the Crime Branch taking charge of the probe, he was tasked with updating and delivering the case diary for the scam. The weight of this responsibility appears to have taken a significant toll on his well-being.

Amidst this somber situation, local Congress members organized a protest, highlighting concerns over the delay in relocating Sudheesh’s body from the scene, even after the initial inquest. They assert that Sudheesh was enduring immense stress and have called for a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding his tragic end.

Sudheesh is survived by his wife Shini, who is a teacher at a local UP school, two children, and his parents Krishnan and Janu. Notably, his brother Surendran serves as a police officer at the Valayam Station. The mortal remains of Sudheesh were transferred to the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital for a postmortem examination.
