The Perumbavoor municipality has issued a stop memo for the construction of a temporary film set for ‘Guruvayoorambala Nadayil,’ directed by Vipin Das. Allegations suggest that the set is being built on illegally-filled land in Karatupallikara. Jacob Joy, son of Vettikanakkudy V C Joy, owns the land where a Guruvayoor temple model is under construction.
The stop memo follows a complaint about the illegal filling of a paddy field for the movie set. Approximately 60 artists have been involved in the construction using plywood, cords, steel square pipes, and polythene sheets for about a month. Municipality chairman Biju John Jacob stated that no permission was obtained for the construction on a illegally-filled paddy field.
In response, the film crew denied the allegations, asserting they had applied for permission and were awaiting the council’s decision. V C Joy, the landowner, accused some councilors of personal interests influencing the stop memo. He emphasized that the memo was issued in his name for construction on land registered under his son’s name.
