PM Modi welcomes Israeli hostage release, urges regional stability at G20 summit

During the G20 virtual summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his satisfaction with the release of 50 hostages by Hamas, outlining seven key observations on the Israel-Hamas conflict. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance on terrorism, he condemned the killing of civilians and stressed the urgency of humanitarian aid. Modi underscored the need for regional stability and advocated for dialogue and diplomacy as the means to resolve the conflict.

Modi acknowledged the unforeseen global challenges, particularly the concerning insecurity and instability in the West Asia region. The virtual summit, attended by 22 heads of government, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, Japanese PM Fumio Kishida, and Australian PM Anthony Albanese, demonstrated collective sensitivity and commitment to addressing these issues. Notably absent were Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden.

Modi expressed hope for the swift release of all Israeli hostages and reaffirmed the global stance against terrorism. The summit served as a symbol of unity in tackling shared concerns and fostering cooperation among G20 nations.
