Two terrorists, including top LeT commander killed in J&K encounter

In a prolonged two-day encounter in the forest area of Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorists, one identified as a prominent Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander from Pakistan, were killed. The LeT commander, named Qari, had received training in both Pakistan and Afghanistan, specializing in operating and hiding in caves, using IEDs, and serving as a trained sniper. Qari played a significant role in orchestrating attacks, including the Dangri and Kandi incidents in Rajouri, where seven civilians were shot dead on January 1 and 2. A soldier lost his life in the Thursday gunfight, bringing the total casualties to five, including two Captains.

Meanwhile, in Poonch, a box dropped by a drone was discovered, containing a Turkey-made pistol, two magazines, 38 live rounds, nine grenades, and a battery-operated IED. The findings indicate an ongoing effort to transport weaponry and explosives using drones, highlighting the security challenges in the region. The successful neutralization of Qari, an adept and influential militant, is a notable achievement for the security forces combating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
