Kerala Blasters claimed the top spot in the Indian Super League (ISL) after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Hyderabad FC at Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday.
Head coach Ivan Vukomanovic emphasized the team’s commitment to giving their all for the home fans. In this clash, Milos Drincic’s 41st-minute goal, assisted by Adrian Luna, showcased the Blasters’ dedication after the international break.
The overwhelming support in Kochi was evident as Drincic capitalized on Luna’s through ball, putting the Blasters in the lead at halftime. Hyderabad FC, struggling in the attack this season, couldn’t convert chances, with Jonathan Moya missing a crucial opportunity.
Despite Blasters nearing a second goal, Drincic’s brace eluded them. Vukomanovic lauded Luna’s impact, hailing him as a pivotal figure in the league, consistently delivering decisive assists.
In another ISL fixture, Chennaiyin FC and East Bengal battled to a 1-1 draw, with Ninthoinganba Meetei’s late goal saving Chennaiyin after an early setback from Ayush Adhikari’s own goal in the 29th minute.
