After 16 days, rescue teams successfully cleared a 60-meter debris section in Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel on Tuesday, liberating 41 workers from their prolonged ordeal. A senior official from Uttarakhand confirmed the completion of drilling at the site. NHIDCL managing director Mahmood Ahmed, when questioned by reporters, didn’t immediately verify the development but mentioned that the final part of the escape pipe was being maneuvered through the drilled passage. The tunnel encountered a partial collapse on November 12, trapping the workers and obstructing their exit. The breakthrough marks a crucial milestone in the rescue efforts, providing relief to those stranded in the tunnel for over two weeks.
