Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inaugurating the Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit 2023 at the Forest Research Institute in Dehradun, remarked on the transformative changes occurring across India. Over the past decade, an aspirational India has emerged, connecting a significant portion of the previously marginalized population to various schemes and opportunities, contributing to economic momentum as millions rise out of poverty.
In his address to a diverse audience of investors, the public, and students, the Prime Minister emphasized the potential of India’s middle class and the significant market created by the empowered society in Uttarakhand. Encouraging the affluent, influential individuals, and the youth, Modi proposed the initiation of a campaign named ‘Wed in India,’ akin to the ‘Make in India’ initiative. He urged them to organize at least one wedding ceremony in Uttarakhand within the next five years, envisioning that even 5,000 weddings annually would spur infrastructure development and position the state as a global wedding destination. This call reflected the Prime Minister’s confidence in India’s capacity to achieve ambitious goals.
