Sabarimala Situation Improves; KSRTC Runs 65 Services per Hour for Pilgrims

The Sabarimala pilgrimage situation showed signs of improvement as numerous devotees, who had faced long queues and delays, returned home after completing darshan by Wednesday night. The crowding and long wait times, which started on December 7, had drawn criticism against the government and Travancore Devaswom Board. The situation eased due to crowd control measures implemented by authorities. While the inflow of pilgrims remained significant, virtual queue facilities were utilized by 50,162 individuals till 6 pm, compared to 90,889 the previous day. The waiting period for darshan reduced rapidly towards the evening, and police lifted curbs for pilgrims’ onward movement from stop-over points. The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation operated an average of 65 services per hour between Nilakkal and Pampa, allowing the quick return of devotees to Nilakkal. The improvement in the situation marked a shift from the earlier challenges faced by pilgrims, including long queues and extended waiting times during the pilgrimage to the Lord Ayyappa temple.
