Doha: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) in Qatar announced the Qatar National Day holiday for workers in private sector establishments. December 18, 2023 will be a paid holiday for private sector employees.
The Ministry also stated that if working conditions require the worker to report to work on Qatar National Day holiday (18 December 2023), provisions regarding overtime hours and their allowances, which are mentioned in Article (74) of the Labour law, will be applied.

Earlier the Amiri Diwan in Qatar announced holiday for National Day. Residents will get two days of public holidays. The holidays will be observed from Sunday, December 17, 2023 to Monday, December 18, 2023. Employees will return to their official duties on December 19, 2023. The Qatar National Day is celebrated every year on December 18.
Qatar celebrates December 18 as National Day or Founder’s Day to mark the Qatar’s unification in 1878. The holiday was established by a decree issued by the then Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on 21st June 2007.
The Ministry of Labour announced that National Day leave for workers in private sector establishments subject to the Labour Law is one paid working day.
