Dr. Nikhil Modi, a senior pulmonologist, highlighted that the declining temperature, increased moisture, low wind speed, and rising pollution contribute to various infections, leading to difficulties in breathing for many individuals.

Classified as a Variant of Interest (VOI) by the World Health Organization (WHO), JN.1 is under intense scientific scrutiny. Despite its distinct nature from the parent lineage BA.2.86, the WHO has emphasized that the overall risk posed by JN.1 remains low based on current evidence.
