Kerala UDF fears defeat, aligns with communal forces: BJP’s K Surendran

BJP Kerala state president K Surendran accused the Congress of aligning with communal forces to avoid electoral defeat. He criticized Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan for his alleged ties with leaders of the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI), questioning why Satheesan remained silent about a recent meeting with them. Surendran demanded the Congress clarify whether they are prepared to reject support from communal groups, alleging that Congress offices house PFI leaders and that both the party’s candidate and opposition leader maintain close associations with them. He also accused the Congress of advancing the Waqf Board’s influence and called Satheesan’s actions anti-national.

Surendran further claimed that the Congress was betraying national unity for electoral gains by collaborating with groups that harm the country’s integrity. He dismissed rumors of BJP councilors defecting to the Congress as baseless, asserting that the truth will be evident after the elections. Commenting on Sandeep Varier’s recent visit to Panakkad, Surendran described it as positive while mocking Congress’s ambitions to take control of the Palakkad municipality as unrealistic.

Meanwhile, former BJP leader Sandeep Varier officially joined the Congress on Saturday, marking a significant political shift. He was warmly welcomed by senior Congress leaders, including KPCC President K. Sudhakaran and Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan, at a ceremony at the KPCC office in Palakkad. This development added to the political dynamics in the state as both parties prepare for upcoming elections.
