It doesn’t take much to set off a huge debate these days. Hotstar might have taken a sigh of breathe after the qualifier 2 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad that the result of the match didn’t spark off a debate as a video from Hotstar seems to have already predicted a KKR- CSK final. The video appears to be a promo video of showdown between KKR and CSK. Had KKR won the match, allegations of match fixing would have surfaced again but then it was SRH who came out on top. Here is the video.

The video was widely shared on social media asking questions regarding how Hotstar was able to predict the finalists days before the line up formed. Soon shouts of match fixing went around and suddenly just about every other match was cited as an example to prove the match fixing. Some users said so many last over finishes have occurred as it was deliberately done to draw more eye balls in to the match. Memories of Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings suspended from IPL soon returned.
The fact of the matter is that it is natural for broadcasters to keep a promo video in advance. There aren’t too many possible outcomes and they keep one for all possible results to be used as soon as the line up is fixed. The final happens in a couple of days time after the qualifier and hotstar cannot be blamed for keeping the videos ready. But then, it doesn’t take a lot to set off a debate.
